Detail Engineering Design & Permitting Engineering for the Project “EPC Compressor Stations in Greece and Albania and a Metering Station in Albania”
Of Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) will transport gas from the giant Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan via Greece and Albania and across the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy and further into Western Europe. The project is aimed at enhancing security of supply as well as diversification of gas supplies for the Europe-an markets. TAP will open a new so-called Southern Gas Cor-ridor to Europe and establish a new market outlet for natural gas from the Caspian Sea. The project is designed to expand transportation capacity from 10 to 20 bcm per year, depending on supply and demand. TAP’s shareholding is comprised of BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Snam S.p.A. (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagas (16%) and Axpo (5%).
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline starts near Kipoi on the border of Turkey and Greece, where it will seamlessly connect with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP). From there TAP will contin-ue onshore crossing the entire territory of Greece and Albania from east to west all the way to the Adriatic Sea coast.
Two compressor stations will be installed, one in Kipi (GCS00) and one in Fier, close to the Albanian landfall (ACS03). Ad-ditionally, a metering station (ACS02) will be installed at the Greek/Albanian border. Three Gas Turbine driven Compressor units (GTCs), of 15MW ISO power each, will be installed in each compressor station for the phase of 10 BCM annual flow rate. For the future upgrade to 20BCM annual flow rate, additional GTCs will be installed in the Compressor stations in Kipoi and Fier, while another compressor station will be required at the Greek/Albanian borders (ACS02) and another compressor station at Serres (Greece) (GCS01). |
