Brief Project Description

The EastMed Pipeline Systems Project, is an offshore/onshore energy infrastructure that will connect East Mediterranean energy resources (offshore gas reserves in Israel and Cyprus) to nearby European energy system via Cyprus, Crete and mainland Greece. In conjunction with the Poseidon Pipeline Project involving Greece and Italy, the EastMed Pipeline Project will enhance the security of energy supply for Mediterranean and South-Eastern European countries.  The EastMed Pipeline Project (and the Poseidon Pipeline Project) are listed among the “Projects of Common Interest (PCI) for their contribution to European Union energy targets.

The EastMed Pipeline Project is about 2.000 km long; the ~1.440 km offshore gas pipeline will link Israel, Cyprus and continental Greece via Crete, before traversing ~540 km through the Greek mainland to its final ~210 km stretch along the Ionian coast to reach Italy via the Poseidon Pipeline.
