Brief Project Description

The Revithoussa LNG Terminal is located on the island of Revithoussa, in the gulf of Pachi at Megara, 45 km west of Athens. The Revithoussa LNG Terminal is the only one in Greece that receives LNG cargoes, temporarily stores and regasifies LNG.

The 3rd LNG Tank Project, partially funded by the European Union NSRF 2007-2013, concerned the increase of the storage capacity of the LNG receiving Terminal. The LNG receiving Terminal’s storage capacity increased from 130.000 m³ to 225.000 m³ LNG by the construction of the 3rd Tank. It consist of two shells, inner and outer, specially designed for each shell alone to withstand the stored quantities of LNG. The inner shell is constructed out of special steel containing 9% Ni that is suitable for cryogenic installations. The outer shell consists of a vaulted ceiling tank, made from special cryogenic concrete.
